Valentino Pereira, Wellington, MNZM
For services to the Pacific community. Mr Pereira was a prominent broadcaster until 1997, and for the last 20 years, he has played an active and pioneering role in developing and supporting many community initiatives. He is Managing Director of Niu Vision Group, a specialist Pacific Consultancy. He was the Chair of the National Pacific Radio Trust, the Pacific Co-operation Foundation, and is a member of the Health Sponsorship Council. He also Chairs the Pacific Advisory Group for the Government Taskforce on Domestic Violence and leads the Pacific Strategy Advisory Group for the Capital Coast District Health Board. Mr Pereira is a role model and mentor to young Pacific people. He is also a Samoan matai (chief) and holds the chiefly orator title Fa’amatuainu from the village of Lufilufi.
