Rodney Cornelius
Rodney Cornelius, of Devonport, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to local heritage. Mr Cornelius has contributed to Devonport’s heritage and history through his chairmanship of the Devonport Historical and Museum Society for more than 25 years. He has encouraged older people to get involved in the museum and local heritage. He was involved with heritage projects for the North Shore City Council and worked with the Department of Conservation in the management of historic properties on North Head and Fort Takapuna. He has had an extensive career in broadcasting and held roles with Television New Zealand and the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation. In 2003, Mr Cornelius was appointed as a board member of Māori Television, where he assisted in establishing the channel.
