Aotofaga Lemuelu
Rev Aotofaga Lemuelu, of Takanini, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the Pacific Islands community. Reverend Lemuelu has been involved in the Pacific Islands community in Southland and Auckland for many years. He was the first Presbyterian Minister for the Invercargill Pacific Island community and was an advisor and Chaplain to Pacific Islanders at various local workplaces for 10 years. He is the moderator of the Pacific Island Synod and a minister for St Paul’s Trinity Pacific Islanders Presbyterian Church. He established workshops and schemes for Pacific Island youth to gain skills in trades. He was instrumental in the establishment of the South Seas’ Health Centre. Reverend Lemuelu was also responsible for establishing the Lotu Moui Health project which promotes health in the Pacific Island community in South Auckland.
