Bev Raine
Bev Raine, of New Plymouth, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to emergency management and the community. Mrs Raine worked in emergency management in the Taranaki region for 25 years until 2008. She held management roles with the New Plymouth District Council, the Taranaki United Council and the Taranaki Regional Council, and acted as a consultant in pandemic influenza planning to Health Protection at the Taranaki District Health Board. Emergency events she was involved with included Cyclone Bola in 1988, Cyclone Hilda in 1990, the Inglewood tornado in 1990, the Waitotara flooding in 2004 and the Taranaki tornado events in 2007. She has also been a member of Netball Taranaki more than 35 years, Sport Taranaki and Soroptomists International. Mrs Raine was a trustee for the North Taranaki neighbourhood support for 10 years and for the Taranaki Jazz Club and is current chair of Taranaki Women’s Refuge.
