Liz Richardson
Liz Richardson, of Wellington, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to Māori and Pacific Islands education. Mrs Richardson has been involved with a wide range of Māori and Pacific Island education projects. She assisted in the establishment of Te Ropu Awhina at Victoria University of Wellington, which aims to produce Māori and Pacifika professionals in science, engineering, architecture and design. Mrs Richardson, who is the Deputy Dean (Equity), has represented Māori and Pacific Islands, interests with a variety of organisations, including the Royal Society of New Zealand Education Committee and the Whitireia Foundation Studies programme. She has also developed outreach programmes for local schools and Māori and Pacific Island communities in the region. Mrs Richardson has served as the Education and ICT Advisor to the Porirua Pacific Islands’ Forum.
