Donald Stuart
Senior Sergeant Donald Stuart, of Manukau, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the New Zealand Police. Senior Sergeant Stuart joined the then Auckland City Council traffic department in 1977 and by 1983 he was Senior Sergeant. From that time he specialised in traffic control surrounding major events. In 1993 he transferred to the New Zealand Police to a position that the Auckland City District created especially to use his skills. Since then he has overseen more than 10,000 operations, including such events as the 1990 Commonwealth Games, America’s Cup Parades, presidential and royal visits, the 1995 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and annual Santa parades.
