Jeanette Richardson, Opua, ONZM
For services to the community. Ms Richardson has been Chief Executive of the Waitangi National Trust since 2001 and has also chaired the Waitangi Day Governance Committee since 2002. In her time as Chief Executive, the Treaty Grounds have been opened to access for all New Zealanders, free of charge, and a major building programme is under way. Ms Richardson has published ‘Time and Tide’ – a history of the North of New Zealand, and in 2009 her play ‘The Land of Plenty’ was first performed at the Treaty Grounds. She is serving her third term as a member of the Northland Cricket Board and has served as an inaugural board member of the Colleen Poutsma Life Trust, which was formed to help with the needs of the terminally ill.
