Maurice Gianotti, Taupo, MNZM
For services to education and the community. Mr Gianotti provided advisory and executive management of the Picot Taskforce, which resulted in ‘Tomorrow’s Schools’. He was closely involved in the redesign of the New Zealand education system in the late 1980s and 1990s, including the establishment of the Ministry of Education, and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and was the inaugural Chief Executive of the Education Review Office. Since retiring to Taupo, Mr Gianotti is involved with the Taupo Citizens Advice Bureau, the Acacia Bay Residents’ Association, the Lake Taupo Hospice Trust, and Riding for the Disabled and was Chairperson of Taupo Primary School Board of Trustees for 12 years.
