Warwick Roger
Warwick Roger, of Devonport, received the Insignia of an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit, for services to journalism on 25 September 2008. Mr Roger launched Metro magazine in 1981 and was its editor for 13 years. He was also the founding editor of the The New Zealand Runner magazine in 1985, and North and South in 1986, and has won many awards for journalism. He has written The Auckland Metro Warwick Roger Eating Out Guide, 1986: from the Sublime to the Ridiculous, a Voyage Round More than 150 of the City’s Restaurants, Old Heroes: the 1956 Springbok Tour; the Lives Beyond, The Other Side, and Places in the Heart. He also wrote the television series Rugby: a Social History in 1996.
