Anaru Rangiheuea
Anaru Rangiheuea, of Rotorua, received the Insignia of a Companion of the NZ Order of Merit, on 23 September 2008. Mr Rangiheuea was a member of the Te Arawa Trust Board for more than 30 years and served as chairman for two periods. He was involved with the negotiations for the “1992 Agreement” and most recently the negotiations for continued claims to title to the 14 Lakes in Te Arawa on behalf of 61 hapu, which was settled in 2006. He has been involved with a number of other community organisations, including as chairman of the Rotomahana Parekarangi Trusts and as a trustee of Te Pumautangi o Te Arawa, the Lake Rotokakahi Trust, the Putauaki Farm Trust Kawerau, and the Bay of Plenty Search and Rescue Trust.
