Martin Manning
Professor Martin Manning, of Lower Hutt, received the Insignia of an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit, for services to climate change science, on September 24. He was the New Zealand researcher that contributed to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Al Gore in 2007. He was the project director and research programme leader at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research at the United States Department of Commerce for 10 years, a member of the World Meteorological Organisation, and a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry Project. Professor Manning was appointed professor of climate change at Victoria University in 2007.
