Harry Keys and Chris Robertson
The conservation work of Dr Harry Keys (second from left) and Dr Chris Robertson (far right) were recognised on 1 April 2008. Dr Keys, of Taupo, received the Insignia of an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit for services to conservation, in particular for his work around ensuring public safety following the 1995-96 eruptions of Mt Ruapehu and the subsequent lahar from the mountain’s crater lake in March 2007. Dr Robertson, of Wellington, received the Queen’s Service Medal for services to ornithology, in particular his work bird mapping projects and management of the Taiaroa Head Nature Reserve for more than 30 years. They are pictured with the Director-General of Conservation, Al Morrison (far left), with Governor-General and Mrs Susan Satyanand.
