Whai Ngata
Whai Ngata received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to broadcasting and television at an Investiture Ceremony at Government House, Auckland, on 18 September 2007. Mr Ngata has been involved with Maori broadcasting and television for more than 30 years. He has been the general manager of TVNZ's Maori Programmes Department for more than 20 years and helped esablished the news bulletin Te Karere. In 1994, his English-Maori Dictionary won the Best Non-Fiction Award at the Montana Book Awards. He is pictured after the ceremony with the Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, and a member of his family.
