Grace Byers QSM
Grace Byers, of Te Aroha, received the Queen’s Service Medal for services to the community. Mrs Byers is President of the Te Aroha Red Cross, has held various offices in the Te Aroha Women’s Institute since 1992, and is involved in the Gardening Club, indoor bowls, and Future Te Aroha. She is a member of a community patrol, and at 70 continues to participate in late night patrols to prevent crime and vandalism. She frequently provides meals and baking for those in need. She was the instigator of a community garden, which she now tends, at Future Te Aroha. Mrs Byers has been a member of Red Cross for 14 years and has served as President of the Te Aroha Red Cross.
