Peter Franks, Gisborne, QSM
For services to the community. Mr Franks has contributed to the community for more than 50 years through his volunteering efforts which span numerous organisations and causes. He has served as Provincial President and is a life member of the Gisborne-Wairoa Federated Farmers. He has served as a member of the senior management team of the Gisborne Volunteer Coastguard. He was Vice-President and President of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, and Deputy Chair of the Tairawhiti Polytechnic Council. He has volunteered his time for Gisborne organisations connected to power boating and aviation, and was co-founder of Gisborne SeniorNet. Mr Franks had a long association with the port, as chair of the Gisborne Port Company board. He has been a volunteer for the Gisborne East Coast Cancer Society and is volunteering for the Eastland Helicopter Rescue Trust. Mr Franks is a volunteer driver and management team member for Sunshine Service – a specialised transport service for the elderly and disabled.
