Dick Glover, Gisborne, QSM
For services to surf lifesaving and the community. Mr Glover has given more than 50 years' service, much of it voluntary, to surf lifesaving, rugby and education in New Zealand. He has been an influential leadership figure for many. In surf lifesaving, he was national coach from 1983 to 1987, and President of the national body from 2001 to 2002. In rugby, he has held numerous coaching roles at schools, at regional and national levels. A high school teacher for more than 30 years, he finished his teaching career as Principal of Gisborne Boys’ High School in 1996. Mr Glover was a trustee of the school’s Educational Trust from 1984 to 2009.
