Ian Jones
Ian Jones, of Milford, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to rugby. Mr Jones is an ex-All Black, who had a successful 20 year career in rugby. He is the third most capped All Black and played 11 seasons for the team. He played in three Rugby World Cups and was a member of the team who won the Bledisloe Cup on a number of occasions. He captained the Waikato Chiefs in the Super 12 series. He has voluntarily coached local rugby teams, served on many New Zealand Rugby Union focus groups, was a member of the Sports Foundation, and assisted many charitable organisations with fundraising. Mr Jones is a director of North Harbour Rugby and patron of North Otago Rugby Supporters Club and Northland Swimming.
