Peter Hunter
Professor Peter Hunter, of Auckland, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to science. Professor Hunter is the Director of the Bioengineering Institute at the University of Auckland and the Director of Computational Physiology at Oxford University. His major research interests over the last 30 years have been in the field of computational physiology. He is currently the President of the Physiological Society of New Zealand and the Co-Chair of the Physiome and Bioengineering Committee of the International Union of Physiological Sciences, where he is currently leading the international Physiome Project. This project aims to use computational methods for understanding body function and structure of tissues, cells, and proteins.
