Lawrance Saunders
Lawrance Saunders, of Blenheim, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the First Light Foundation, which assists local youth attend Outward Bound courses. He has organised fundraising dinners, from which local organisations have benefited significantly, including the local hospice and the St Marks Drug and Alcohol Centre. He chaired the Marlborough Water augmentation scheme, a community group formed to solve the water shortage in the area, and was instrumental in the establishment of the southern valleys irrigation scheme. Mr Saunders was director of the Blenheim Airport Company, a member of the Blenheim Round Table, and is an active member of the Blenheim Anglican.
