John McClean
John McClean, of Queenstown, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to business. Mr McClean was a chartered accountant in the Southland region for many years, having established one of the largest farm accountancy partnerships in New Zealand. He was active in the practice until his retirement in 2007 and his wide knowledge of farming practices and agricultural businesses was of significant benefit to agriculture-related organisations in the lower South Island. He was a Director of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in the 1970s, and in the 1980s and 1990s was Chair of the Tourist Hotel Corporation, SouthFert, and the Permanent Building Society. Mr McClean is a Justice of the Peace and has also served on the Council of Southland Presbyterian Social Services.
