June and Sam Jackson
June Jackson and Sam Jackson, of Wellington, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the community. Mr and Mrs Jackson have made a significant contribution to the growth and understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori in New Zealand. They have done this through their work as kaumātua and protocol advisors to various government organisations including Inland Revenue and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. They have served at Government House in Wellington, representing local iwi at State Welcomes for visiting Heads of State and for other State and Official occasions. They also provide protocol services for Wellington and Hutt city councils for ceremonial occasions including citizenship ceremonies.
