Don Neely, Wellington, MNZM
For services to cricket. Mr Neely has contributed to cricket as a player, administrator, selector, writer, journalist, radio broadcaster, television commentator and historian since 1957. After playing first-class cricket for Wellington and Auckland, he became a New Zealand Cricket selector from 1979 to 1993 and Convenor of Selectors from 1986 to 1993. He has held a wide range of administrative roles, including establishing the New Zealand Cricket Museum. A past President of New Zealand Cricket, he was also the editor of the New Zealand Cricket Annual for 20 years and has written nine books on the history of cricket. Mr Neely received the MBE for services to cricket in 1995.
