Brian Donnelly
Hon Brian Donnelly received the Insignia of a Companion of the Queen’s Service Order, for public services, on 5 September. Mr Donnelly was a List MP from 1996 until 2008 and during this time he had a particular interest in education and children’s rights and was a spokesperson on youth affairs, education, and biosecurity. He was Minister Responsible for the Education Review Office, Associate Minister of Education, and Associate Minister of Pacific Island Affairs. He was also a member of the Education and Science Select Committee from 1999 to 2002. Prior to his career in Parliament, he spent 25 years as a teacher and principal of Tauraroa Area School and Whangârei Intermediate School. Mr Donnelly has recently served as New Zealand’s High Commissioner to the Cook Islands.
