Ronald Jones
Professor Ronald Jones, of Remuera, received the Insignia of a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit at an investiture ceremony on 31 March 2009 for services to women's health. Professor Jones has made a significant contribution to the development and improvement of women's health services in New Zealand and internationally for more than 30 years. His research has focused on cervical cancer. He has advocated for the provision of services for the antenatal determination of foetal abnormalities, cancer treatment services and the development of a vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancer. He has been a member of a number of committees, including the Gisborne Cancer Inquiry. He is the President of the International Society of Vulvar Disease and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy.
