Lew McIvor, Christchurch, MNZM
For services to diabetes research. Mr McIvor has contributed to the establishment of the Diabetes Research Institute in Christchurch. He works to advance research not only into the treatment and prevention of diabetes mellitus in New Zealand, but also seeks to find a cure for the disease. He is one of the Institute’s trustees and has been instrumental in fundraising for its new premises. He is a member of the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust and was involved in establishing the bone marrow transplant unit at Christchurch Hospital. He was on the Board of Governors of Windsor House Retirement Village and was responsible for initiating a process of reorganisation.
