Anita Mansell, Lower Hutt, QSM
For services to the Filipino community. Ms Mansell came to New Zealand from the Philippines in 1983. She has been involved in a voluntary capacity as President of the Hutt Multicultural Council since 2003. In this position she has revived the women’s group, and organised the ethnic community to participate in the Lower Hutt City Christmas Parades, and organised the Race Unity Day. Ms Mansell has held executive positions on a number of committees including the Wellington Filipino Society, the Human Rights International Film Festival, and the Women’s Council of the New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils. She has worked to raise the profile of the Filipino community and the immigrant community. Mrs Mansell has been a member of various local and central government initiatives such as the National Police Ethnic Strategy and refugee health and wellbeing forums.
