Judy Bailey
Judy Bailey, of Birkenhead, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to broadcasting and the community. Mrs Bailey, pictured after the ceremony with her family, has had a television career that has spanned more than 30 years. She worked as a reporter and presenter of the news and current affairs programmes. She is also notable for her involvement in charitable organisations. She is Patron of the North Shore Hospice, Seasons, Friends of Women’s Refuge and the Muscular Dystropy Association. She is a Trustee of the Brain Wave Trust Aotearoa, which brings the latest research in neuroscience to those who work with children and young families. Mrs Bailey has been a volunteer with World Vision for more than 25 years, visiting schools to encourage children to participate in the 40 Hour Famine.
