Barry Mansell, of Otaki
Barry Mansell received a Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. Mr Mansell was a committee member of the Rahui Rugby Football Club while playing for the club in the 1950s and he has continued to support the club, becoming Patron in 1998. As a member of the Otaki Lions Club for 16 years, including as President, he was involved in many community projects. A keen equestrian rider, Mr Mansell has given 50 years’ of service to the Horowhenua Agricultural and Pastoral Association, including as President, and now as Patron. An active member of the Manawatu Hunt Club for more than 50 years, Mr Mansell is assisting in the creation of its centennial history. He was a Kapiti Coast District Councillor from 1989 to 2008 and has been an active member of the Friends of the Otaki River since its inception in 1998. Mr Mansell is treasurer of the Otaki Anglican-Methodist Parish and is a volunteer for the Otaki Foodbank.
