William Stirling
William Stirling, of Hastings, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to Māori and the community. Mr Stirling has been involved in the Hawke's Bay community for more than 40 years. He was a founding member of the Tamatea Rugby Club in 1962. He has made a huge contribution to the Waipatu Marae for many years. He is the kaumātua for the Hawke's Bay District Health Board and worked for the Māori Health Service for more than 10 years, where he helped to establish the Māori Relationship Board. He is an advocate for the improvement of Māori health. He is a member of the Waiapu Diocese and has served on the Waipatu Moteo Committee for 20 years. Mr Stirling was the first Chairperson of the Heretaunga Taiwhenua.
