Shona Bramley, of Hamilton
Shona Bramley received the Queen's Service Medal for services to asthma and respiratory care. For more than 25 years Mrs Bramley has been helping to care for asthma and respiratory disease sufferers in the Waikato area, through Asthma and Respiratory Care Services and the Waikato Asthma and Respiratory Trust. She is active as the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease support group co-ordinator for the Hamilton and Thames areas, as well as being the organiser of a number of major fundraising events. She provides a wealth of knowledge for staff and new board members and has a passion for helping people with respiratory conditions. She has been involved with the Waikato Playcentre Association in various capacities for 40 years and was made a life member in 1986. Mrs Bramley received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Volunteering Waikato in 2009.
