Dr Kelvin Berryman, Plimmerton, QSO
For services to science. Dr Berryman is employed as a principal scientist at GNS Science in Lower Hutt and has more than 30 years of professional experience in natural hazards research and its applications. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and client reports, and worked on projects in nine different countries. He is a member of four professional bodies. Following the September 2010 and February 2011 earthquakes in Canterbury, he has demonstrated his abilities as a science communications leader, particularly by communicating scientific information to decision-makers, and to the public, in a timely and comprehensible manner.
