Peter Bush, Wellington, CNZM
For services to photography. Mr Bush has photographed rugby and particularly the New Zealand All Blacks, since 1949. His photographs have portrayed the changing face of rugby both to New Zealanders and internationally. He is an iconic figure in sport photojournalism for many of his well-known images of All Blacks and for his presence at major rugby games for more than 50 years. In 2009 his biography, A Life in Focus, was written in conjunction with Paul Thomas. There have been numerous exhibitions of his work, including Hard on the Heels: Capturing the All Blacks, which was exhibited at the Otago Museum. Mr Bush received the Queen’s Service Medal in 1991.
