Kevin Riordan, Wellington, QSM
For services to the New Zealand Police. Inspector Riordan has worked the Solomon Islands, Bougainville and Afghanistan and demonstrated skills in assisting local police build capacity in service delivery and organisational development. He led a successful New Zealand Police mentoring team during the first Afghan-led Presidential election, supporting the Afghanistan National Police by mentoring senior police managers. He successfully managed the first visit by the New Zealand Police Commissioner to Kabul and provided leading support for the construction by the United States of a new Provincial Police Headquarters in Bamyan. Inspector Riordan represented the New Zealand Police at the International Police Co-ordination Centre in South Africa during the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup and is providing his expertise to the Rugby World Cup 2011 Project Team.
