Alan Kerr
Alan Kerr, of Wellington, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Mr Kerr worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for more than 30 years, where he made a significant contribution to New Zealand trade and economic interests in agriculture and forestry. He worked for the Department of Trade and Industry and represented New Zealand at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris. He was instrumental in developing trade with European communities and maintaining New Zealand’s market access for meat and dairy products. He contributed to the negotiation of the World Trade Organisation Agreement on Agriculture Uruguay Round. Mr Kerr contributed to the agricultural component of the New Zealand-Thailand and the New Zealand-Singapore Closer Economic Partnerships, as well as the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement.
