Christine Walsh
Dr Christine Walsh, of Levin, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to women’s health. Dr Walsh has worked to raise the awareness of breast cancer and campaigned for improved treatment for those living with the disease. She was been a consumer representative on the New Zealand Breast Cancer Special Interest Group and the Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition Breast Cancer Advocacy Group. She is a member of the New Zealand Guidelines Group, where she was involved in drafting the guidelines for the treatment of early breast cancer and in establishing a national consortium for health consumers in New Zealand. Dr Walsh has authored and refereed journal articles and conference papers and was a senior lecturer at the Graduate School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health at Victoria University of Wellington for more than 10 years.
