Mrs Marara Te Tai Hook, of Hikurangi, QSM, for services to Māori
Mrs Te Tai Hook has contributed significantly to the Hapu of Ngati Kuta and Patu Keha in Te Tai Tokerau. She has been active on Bay of Islands Marae, especially Te Rawhiti, and has been involved in successful pest-control projects in the region. As senior Kuia, she has passed on her tikanga knowledge. She helped establish Te Mahurehure Marae and Hoani Waititi in West Auckland, as well as a welfare committee. She was the first Māori to do shorthand in English and Māori and served on various Trust Boards, including as Secretary and Treasurer of Te Rawhiti Marae Trust.
