Ms Anne (Annie) Crummer, of Auckland, MNZM,for services to music
Ms Crummer is a singer/songwriter who has helped increase the representation of Pacific people in New Zealand’s music charts. She has been an integral part of groups including Netherworld Dancing Toys, When the Cat’s Away and Herbs. Her two solo albums reached platinum and gold sales status. She has had roles in musicals including ‘Rent’ and ‘We Will Rock You’. As part of Māori Television’s programme ‘Songs from the Inside’, she mentored prisoners to write and perform songs. She is involved with the New Zealand Music Commission’s Musicians Mentoring in Schools programme, through which she has helped young Gisborne musicians prepare for the Smokefree Rockquest competition.
