Dr David Chamley, of Auckland, ONZM, for services to anaesthesia
Dr Chamley is an anaesthetist at Middlemore Hospital. As Head of Department, he developed the anaesthesia unit as an efficient and functional team. He provided strong clinical governance and effective medical participation as the Clinical Director of Surgical Services. As President of the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists, he strengthened the relationship with the Australian Society of Anaesthetists. He is an advisor to ACC and to HDC and has used his experience and skills to resolve a wide range of issues. He has acted as Coroner’s assessor, providing useful advice and counsel. He makes a dedicated contribution to many international surgical charities by volunteering his skills as an anaesthetist in developing countries. Dr Chamley has participated in a large number of surgical trips to the Pacific, the Philippines, and Nepal.
