Emily Perkins, of Wellington, MNZM, for services to literature
Ms Perkins is the award-winning author of a collection of short fiction, ‘Not Her Real Name’, and four novels, ‘Leave Before You Go’, ‘The New Girl’, ‘Novel About My Wife’, and ‘The Forrests’. She is Senior Lecturer of the International Institute of Modern Letters’ creative writing programme at Victoria University of Wellington, and formerly taught at the University of Auckland and AUT. She adapted Henrik Ibsen’s ‘A Doll’s House’ into a stage play for Auckland Theatre Company and co-wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Eleanor Catton’s novel ‘The Rehearsal’. Ms Perkins hosted the television programme ‘The Good Word’ and its spin-off, ‘The Good Word Junior’.
