Professor Anne (Vicky) Cameron, ONZM of Christchurch, for services to health
Professor Cameron is Research Professor and Head of the Molecular Biology and Genetics Laboratory at the University of Otago’s Christchurch Heart institute. Her research focuses on the increased likelihood of cardio-vascular disease in some families and the disparity in occurrence and mortality between Māori and non-Māori and Pacific peoples. She has authored or contributed to hundreds of research articles and conference proceedings, a book chapter and a patent for micro-RNA molecules. She has performed extensive genetic profiling of patients and is lead investigator for a number of cohort studies and co-leader of the Hauora Manawa/Community Heart Study. Professor Cameron has been a member of the National Heart Foundation Scientific Advisory Board, Convenor of the Marsden Fund Council’s Biomedical Sciences Panel, and Deputy Dean of the University of Otago’s Christchurch Campus.
