Rachel House, of Auckland, ONZM, for services to the performing arts
Ms House has acted in more than 25 theatre productions, including Briar Grace-Smith’s ‘Nga Pou Wahine’ and Witi Ihimaera’s ‘Woman Far Walking’. She has featured in a number of television programmes, including 'Maddigan's Quest', ‘Hope & Wire’ and ‘Monkey’, and in major feature films, including ‘White Lies’, 'Whale Rider', ‘Eagle Vs Shark’, ‘Boy’ and ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’. As a director, she has staged theatre productions in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. After studying at the Prague Film School, she directed the New Zealand short film ‘The Winter Boy’. She directed the Te Reo Māori production of ‘Troilus and Cressida’ at London’s Globe Theatre. Ms House has worked in radio production and as a voice artist, most recently voicing Gramma Tala in Disney’s ‘Moana’.
