Dame Patsy and Frances Clarke Award recipient Brendon Porthouse
Brendon was nominated by his teacher Gaelene Praat from Waiopehu College Te Whare Awhina.
Brendon wwas nominated for the award for the life skills and independence he has developed and his service to the community
Brendon attends Tutor Group, Technology Wood and Art & Craft classes as part of his individualized learning programme. He has been learning to make his own lunch to suit his special dietary requirements and has voluntarily taken the responsibility for cleaning the school kitchen everyday.
Brendon works at the Levin Fire Station once a week, helping to keep a clean station.
He is a keen athlete in Special Olympics sporting events competing in swimming, Bocce and Equestrian events.
