Hinewirangi Morgan, of Hamilton, MNZM, for services to victim support
Hinewirangi Morgan has worked as a counsellor in Hamilton and is a founding director of the Māori Women’s Centre. She is the Director of Te Whanau Te Rau Aroha Ltd, which runs inmate programmes at Te Ao Marama-Waikeria prison. She is the Executive Director for the Nga Mata Whanau Trust, a board member of the International Indian Treaty Council, and a steering committee member for Australia and Aotearoa in Nuclear Free Independent Pacific. She has developed women’s programmes for the Asian Cultural Forum on Development and is part of the women’s collective Ka Ata Mai. Ms Morgan writes poetry, short stories, novels, plays, waiata, and children’s books.
