Mrs Beverley Turner, of Auckland, MNZM for services to women, particularly Pacific women
Beverley Turner has been a key player in a number of women’s organisations which have engaged with Pacific Island communities. She was Auckland Chairperson and President of UNIFEM New Zealand (now UN Women New Zealand). She was a key driver for introducing the White Ribbon campaign to New Zealand to End Violence Against Women. As a member of Graduate Women New Zealand, she helped establish the Pacific Graduate Women’s Network and has acted as co-ordinator and mentor since its inception. Mrs Turner is International Secretary of Pacific Women’s Watch (PWW[NZ]) and represents the organisation at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York.
