Ms Sue Kedgley, of Wellington, ONZM for services to women and governance
Sue Kedgley established the Auckland University Women’s Liberation and helped found the National Organisation for Women. She wrote five books on women’s issues and gender equality in New Zealand. She worked for the Women’s Secretariat at the United Nations, promoting International Women’s Year in 1975 and helping to organise two United Nations International Women’s Conferences. She helped establish the United Nations Women’s Group. She has been a Wellington City Councillor, a Greater Wellington Regional Councillor, and a Member of Parliament. She is a member of the Consumer New Zealand Board and Convenor of the Consumer Affairs Standing Committee of the National Council of Women. She was President of United Nations Women Aotearoa New Zealand. Ms Kedgley has helped organise the White Camellia Awards, recognising gender equality in organisations.
