Dr Aroha Harris, MNZM, for services to Māori and historical research
Dr Aroha Harris is a historian at the University of Auckland whose works have been published in edited collections and academic journals. She authored the book ‘Hīkoi: Forty Years of Māori Protest’ and co-authored ‘Tangata Whenua: An Illustrated History’. She is a member of the Waitangi Tribunal, Past President of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, a founding member of Te Pouhere Kōrero, and former President of the New Zealand Historical Association. She has provided research advice to Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa on iwi development projects. Dr Harris was a board member of Guardians Kaitiaki of the Alexander Turnbull Library and the Archives Council of New Zealand.
