Mr Kim Robinson, MNZM, for services to the deaf community.
Mr Kim Robinson has campaigned for New Zealand Sign Language to become an official language and has assisted with captioning access for cinemas, television and online content. He has ensured that access is available to the deaf during Civil Defence emergencies and has lobbied for visual fire alarms to be placed in public buildings. He has successfully campaigned for the establishment of the New Zealand Relay Service for the deaf community and has made submissions to numerous select committees and participated in several policy reviews. Mr Robinson was President of the Executive Board of the Deaf Association of New Zealand and helped to establish Deaf Action New Zealand Inc.
