Afamasaga Agnes Rasmussen, of Auckland, QSM for services to education and the Pacific community
Afamasaga Agnes Rasmussen is a teacher at St Mary MacKillop Catholic School in Mangere. She has been a committee member of St Theresa’s Catholic Church for 52 years and was a founding member of the Mangere Writers’ Group.
She has organised Sunday School teacher training for Samoan Catholic Schools in Auckland. She sat on the Post Primary Teachers Association’s Multicultural Education Advisory Committee. She has volunteered for PACIFICA Inc. for more than 40 years.
Afamasaga Agnes has provided training and English lessons to Samoan migrants and was the first Pacific woman appointed to the Social Welfare Commission.
