Barry Maister, of Christchurch, CNZM, for services to sport and the community
Barry Maister has represented New Zealand on many commissions and organisations as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and as Sport New Zealand International ambassador.
He chaired the IOC Education Commission and is a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency education committee. He was Vice President of the Oceania Olympic Committee and an Executive Member of the World Association of National Olympic committees.
He was a Board member of Auckland World Masters Games and a member of the MBIE New Zealand major events investment panel. Mr Maister has been Chair of Picton’s Kaipupu Wildlife sanctuary, the Picton ‘Smart and Connected’ community group and the Christchurch Multi Purpose Arena Trust.
He was Director of ‘Destination Marlborough’ and a member of Tuia 250 Totaranui Trust.
