Mr Murray MacCormick, of Auckland, for services to health, particularly surgery
Murray MacCormick has been a surgeon for 45 years, specialising in breast cancer and vascular surgery. He has worked as a tutor, consultation surgeon, and clinical director of General Surgery at Auckland Hospital. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Auckland. He founded the first multidisciplinary service for the management of breast cancer in Auckland, and led the establishment of breast screening in Northland. He was a pioneer of renal transplant surgery in New Zealand. He was a Board Member and Chair of the New Zealand Cancer Society and the Cancer Society Auckland Northland Division. He is a Trustee of the Society’s Auckland Northland Division Endowment Trust. Mr MacCormick is Chair of the Credentialing Committee at Mercy Ascot Hospital.
